There are many opinions about using AI to write books, and I see both sides: those who like it and those who don't. In this article, I'm just here to give the facts from my personal use of AI-assisted softwares to write my stories.
As someone who comes from a software development background, literature wasn't something I specialized in or understood. Just like most people, it didn't mean I couldn't tell a great story. In today's world, great storytelling beats the art of literature. Here's an example of why. It's like going to the mall to buy clothes; most people won't care where the clothes come from, as the fine print on the tag says which country it was made in. All the shopper cares about is first how nice the piece of clothing looks, and second, how much it will cost them. So, as long as you have an idea for a great story that's either real or based on your creativity, there is nothing wrong with using AI as a tool to help correctly write your story.
Benefits Of Using AI For Writing Stories
- Helps with organizing your thoughts
- Writing in the tone of your voice or an inspired voice
- Correction of grammar, punctuation, and spelling
- Give more creative visions for where the story can go
- The affordability that lowers the barrier to entry for new authors
Negatives About Using AI For Writing Stories
- It can't articulate an entire story for you just off an idea
- The low barrier to entry can flood the book market with AI slop
- The dependence on AI to write stories and the lack of original creativity
- Plagiarism can learn from your writing and sold as data
- The decline of authentic literature
Overall, the way you use AI is up to you. Not all users of it will have good intentions, but you shouldn't let that stop you, as long as you're using it as a tool to push out high-quality content. The quality of your content will be what really makes you stand out from the crowd, because what you put in is the result of the quality of reviews you'll get about your book.
